Client: Sanford
General Review
Sanford came to R.L. Stevens & Associates needing assistance in developing a job search. After being hired as an attorney right out of law school, his prior employment changes were easily facilitated when attorneys approached him about joining their firms. Now he needed to do it himself. He knew little to nothing about developing marketing materials, researching employers, finding opportunities that had not matured into current job openings, and presenting himself effectively in interviews.
Sanford’s consultant developed marketing materials based on the best assets that he had to offer. Using the extensive questionnaires that Sanford completed at the beginning of the process, supplemented by several in-person meetings, his RLS consultant identified employer targets and hiring managers to pursue, and developed a marketing plan that Sanford was to follow. He also provided extensive research on target companies, and provided supplementary research on other companies that Sanford later identified as viable employers. During the active phase of the job search the consultant maintained a regular meeting schedule with Sanford in order to debrief and fine-tune his job search.
Sanford used multiple channels of activity in conducting his job search, and found a solid legal opportunity through a search firm. He accepted the offer from a local branch of a large national law firm. This will give him the opportunity to grow that his last firm did not provide.
“My consultant offered a number of insights into search techniques, cover letter writing and interviewing strategy that I would not have thought of on my own!”
