General Review

Like many of our attorney clients, Jerry resounded the common concerns of his peers:

  • Lots of billable hours

  • Limited growth potential if family is located in a small market

  • Limited potential for ‘in house’ positions in a small market

  • A sense of redundancy, after many years, the only thing that changes are the names

  • A desire for a change of scenery and influence, and a better ‘balance/quality of life’

As Jerry and his consultant were working through the assessments, it became clear that his primary interests were not in legal, but rather in environment, developmental, business analysis type positions.  A ‘state wide search ‘of industries conducting that type of business returned a wide range of opportunities.

The RLS consultant determined which of Jerry's skills would transfer into his new interest and provided him with extensive unpublished opportunities to pursue.  Jerry performed the customary tasks for generating initial exposure to companies and search firms.  However, we both knew that his long-term successes in this campaign would hinge from his ‘direct targeted contact to key decision makers’ within the industry.

Once Jerry was coached through the process a few times and provided the research necessary for him to speak from an informed position, we made several contacts.  These contacts worked exactly in line with the ‘RLS Process’, which Jerry worked to a ‘T’.  He was given an invitation to join the management team as a Business Development Analyst, where his legal background would be an asset, but not a critical function and was told to ‘name his price’.
