Anyone observing the market over the past several years has an insight into the excessive number of attorneys in the market, understands the competitiveness of the legal arena, and discerns the fact that ‘bill-able’ hours seldom produces the kind of high incomes, most law students anticipate when they ‘sign up’ to be a lawyer.  The first transition from a legal environment is generally into a corporate counsel or in house counsel position.

 

Willard became a client of R. L. Stevens at the seasoned age of 60, after working in law firms, private practice, and in house counsel.  The basic premise of the campaign was to determine, what comes next and what the options might be for someone who:  wants to work, has great leadership skills, but needs some balance and quality of life that doesn’t require one to be shackled to the office.

 

Willard’s campaign involved a personal relocation and identification of the type of position he’d most like to seek for the coming years.  Prior to his relocation, Willard's consultant provided him with thorough research on local companies and deep level market research that showed unpublished and unadvertised opportunities for him to pursue.  it was also crucial for Willard's consultant to help him determine and understand where his skill fit in the marketplace.  Upon arrival in his ‘new town’, he was fully prepared and we soon determined an untapped market niche.  Willard started writing contracts and finance documents, which ultimately led to the establishment of an ‘on-line portfolio mortgage lending company’.
