General Review

Mark’s most recent experience had been with two Internet start up firms that had failed within a year’s time.  He had also had both traditional and Internet marketing experience with a Fortune 500 firm.  He came to R.L. Stevens with the goal of finding a position that would use his strengths in Internet and traditional marketing in a company that was positioned for growth in an expanding sector of the economy.

Mark’s consultant emphasized the importance of focusing on the strength of his diverse background, of clearly portraying his assets in his resume, and selling them in an interview.  His resume delineated his unique background, including his fluency in Spanish.  A key selling point was his understanding of the expanding Spanish-speaking market in the United States, as well as his experience with Spanish-speaking cultures abroad.

With a career focus established and marketing documents prepared, Mark was ready to practice his interviewing skills.  He learned to focus his presentation on the employer’s needs, and to help them see the unique possibilities that he offered.

Mark was given extensive research, key decision maker names, and unadvertised opportunities.  It was not long before he had the attention of appropriate decision makers.  Mark commented: “The resume got a great response from the Vice President, who said, ‘Finally, a resume that clearly portrays the candidate’s qualifications.’ The interview process really prepared me to sell my strengths.”
