General Review

Lynn, confused and distressed at midlife, age 48, sought RL Stevens to assist her in developing a new clear focus and direction for a new career, promising stability, guaranteed income in a growth industry.  Radical shifts in her personal life necessitated this action.  She had an excellent educational background (3 advanced degrees) and several successful previous careers including college teaching (psychology)/program development/administration, insurance industry research and marketing, and travel photography as a freelancer.   Lynn was currently acquiring some computer technical skills on her own to give her the competitive edge.  She invested in a laptop and struggled through the learning process.

She and her consultant reviewed her personal and career history, evaluated results of personality and interest inventories and aptitude assessments, and determined two related career focuses and two resumes. They ingeniously consolidated her vast skill set and diverse, seemingly unrelated job history to create a new cohesive professional identity in the fields of Marketing Communications and Public Relations.  Lynn possessed extraordinary warmth and a radiant personality for those industries.  A personalized marketing action plan enabled Lynn to explore and research potential opportunities and ‘good fits’ for her in the unadvertised job market.  Lynn’s successful career search completion nearly tripled her annual income and has offered her the ability to telecommute after an initial 6-month training period.  Interestingly enough, Lynn refused the same position several months prior because at that time the company was reticent to allow telecommuting.  They did reconsider and struck a mutually satisfying arrangement.
